2019 Show Judge: Angie Dodson
Angie Dodson received her BA in Art History from the University of Florida and her MAT in Museum Education from the George
Washington University. Angie’s professional path began at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts in Alabama where she served as Assistant Curator of
Education for Adult Programs. After graduate school, Angie returned to her hometown of Charlotte, NC to serve as Curator of Education at the Museum of the New South. Missing life in Washington, she returned to serve as Curator of Education at the Octagon, the Museum of the American Architectural Foundation. Then, for nearly twenty years, she served on staff at Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens. At Hillwood, she held a number of positions ranging from Assistant Head of Interpretation to Chief Operating Officer and Director of Learning & Engagement. In October 2018, Angie returned to her first professional love–the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts–where she now serves as director. While her work settings have changed—art museum, history center, historic house, estate museum—the constants in Angie’s quarter-century or so of work in museums has been object-centered life long learning, audience engagement, and institutional sustainability.
