The 2020 art show will be Oct. 3, 2020, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The Bluff Park Art Show is held annually on the first Saturday of October. This FREE show has grown from 65 to more than 150 artists and attracts more than 10,000 people each year. Proceeds from the show go toward improving the arts in the greater Birmingham area.
Artists display their work from 9 a.m to 5 p.m. in the front of the Bluff Park Community Center, located at 517 Cloudland Drive in Hoover, Ala. In addition to art, food vendors are scattered throughout the park. Hands-on art activities are available for children ages 3-8.
The show is presented by the Bluff Park Art Association, an all-volunteer nonprofit organization that exists to promote access to the fine arts for everyone.
In addition to the annual show, the organization places works from its 100-plus piece permanent art collection in schools, libraries, and other public venues. Additionally, the Bluff Park Art Association annually awards a competitive college scholarship to a Hoover area high school senior who will be majoring in art.
The first show was held in Bluff Park to benefit the Bluff Park Elementary School library and has grown into a prestigious annual event. The top award is a purchase award, and the winning work is added to the permanent collection. These works are displayed in local schools, colleges, and other public buildings.
Proceeds from the show go to support the arts in the greater Birmingham community. Over the years, the art association has undertaken many projects, both large and small. These have varied from buying art books for school libraries to commissioning public sculpture and paintings.
There is NO PARKING at the site. Free parking and shuttle buses are available at the Bluff Park United Methodist Church, Shades Mountain Independent Church, Bluff Park Village Shopping Center, and Shades Crest Baptist Church.
Follow the signs from I-65 at Alford Avenue and Tyler Road. An art cart is available to assist those making a purchase.
